Global Heart Tours not only provides tours around Melbourne but also facilitates a wide range of other activities.
English Facilitation
Our English facilitation groups allow English learners to practice English with local native speakers in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Typically the students have a debate and the native speaker asks questions and continues the discussion. Topics might include: ‘Is it better to live at home or in a share house?’, ‘Is it better to marry young or early?’, etc. The discussions show that often there are a lot of big, but very interesting differences in how different cultures think about everyday topics.
Barbeques
Our Aussie barbeques showcase the best of “Aussie cuisine” – sausages, steaks and vegeburgers for vegetarians. We also play sports like cricket, football and frisbee. Have with fun and practice English with lots of local students.
Language Exchange
Currently we are hosting four different Chinese/English language exchange groups in Melbourne plus a Korean/English one as well.
The groups tend to be very casual which creates a fun atmosphere to learn and meet new people. For more information about all these groups, visit our language exchange page. If you are interested in organising a language exchange group near your suburb, please let us know. We are also hoping to create new groups for other languages such as Vietnamese and Indonesian if we can get the numbers!
Presentations
We have experience in giving presentations on things like when you should avoid using public transport, how to be safe in the city at night, what phone numbers to ring, how to deal with people trying to sell things to you on the street and so on.
We also give information about Australian cultural values such as work ethic, partying when you are young, cafes and bars, interest groups and online communication.
Our presentations often discuss the importance of making local friends, not to be shy, and how to find new social groups.
Other Events
We are also equipped to organise a variety of other events that can help bridge the gap between local and international students, such as film nights, book clubs and language conferences. If you have a specific event in mind that you will like help with, feel free to contact us – we want to be involved in the community as much as possible!
